Top 10 Checklist Item before Shifting to a new Las Vegas Rental Home

August 3rd 2010 in All, Renters Resources

Moving can be very stressful. There are so many things to be considered prior to your move.  To ensure that your new Las Vegas Rental House is still exciting and does not produce unpleasant surprises, there are several things to check that you might have disregarded both within the rental home and around the area you’ll be moving to.

  • Check faucets and showers in the kitchen and all bathrooms to ensure there is good water pressure and water heater is working.  Check the toilet; make sure that it flushes properly. Check the toilet bowl for leaks.
  • Check all appliances to ensure they operate properly. Inspect the air conditioning and heater. Make sure the refrigerator is cooling. Check if the stove, oven and microwave are working. Check if washer and dryer are provided. Check all lights in the rental to make sure they work. Have the landlord change the bulbs if needed, but it may be the fixture itself.
  • Check the cell phone reception in all rooms in your new home. Checking it now, can save you from much aggravation, annoyance and inconvenience later.
  • Inspect for signs of any insect infestation. Look inside the cabinets, furniture, around baseboards. The house must be well cleaned.
  • Check the action of all doors. Check if they open and close smoothly or do you have to push or pull hard to open or close any of them.
  • Check carpeted areas of wear. Also check out the water damage on walls or ceilings at this time.
  • Ask for the reputation of the Las Vegas Property manager with other residents. Ask if they take care of issues at the right time and if they respond to complaints promptly.
  • Explore road system and public transport. This will give you a good idea of how long it will take to get to or how conveniently it is located to specific places such as work, schools, supermarket or the gym
  • Do your homework and find out how safe is the neighborhood and what the crime rate is like, ask if the community is gated and guarded at night.
  • Check the school district. A quick Internet search will tell you if the local schools have a passing or failing grade.
